Recently, ECEC members, the Lake Hodges Native Plant Club, Audubon Society members, and friends planted over 100 gallon-size drought-resistant native plants in Kit Carson Park. Morgan Vondrak, a professional landscape designer who specializes in native plants, donated her time preparing an extensive plan for the planting, which will occur in several phases. Las Pilitas Nursery, specialists in native plants, assisted with the project.

Escondido City Councilmember Ron Newman and his wife, Laura, also joined the group. Ron demonstrated the art of using a post hole digger to make neat holes for the plants.

Phase I and 2 are doing quite well. ECEC members and friends meet every Saturday morning at 9 a.m. to ensure that the plants are properly watered and cared for.
